Google Now Launcher is an app for Android devices (except Nexus phones) that offers a faster and clean home screen and access to the largest search engine with just a swipe. The app determines the appearance of the home panel and is responsible for other panels as well as how the app grid looks. Here’s the app review.
Interface
The Google Play app for Android devices has a simple home screen design where you can add widgets and app shortcuts and categorize applications into folders. In case you fill up all the space on a particular panel, it’s easy to create a new one. All you have to do is drag and drop a widget or app to the right-hand side of your Android mobile device screen.
The Google Android app also has a minimalist and simple built-in app grid with an option that allows you to change the grid size, modify it, or adjust the size or layout of the icons.
In this section, the app deserves a 10/10.
Features
Concerning the number of settings and features offered, this tool may serve as a good example of minimalism. This launcher turns out to be extremely simple and straightforward, offering only the most useful and basic settings and features. With this app, I get to swipe right from my home screen, and the cards will bring the right information at the appropriate time. I can also access Search quickly from each of my Home screens.
The latest version offers vertical scrolling through the A-Z list of applications from where I can search for applications on my device or get new ones from the Play Store. The apps on-device intelligence also helps me access my preferred apps from the top of the list, and the folders can expand to have additional pages. Finally, with the new update, you can use the new Marshmallow Wallpapers.
The launcher offers no in-app purchases and only works with devices that fall between Android versions 4.1 and 7.1.1.
Here, it scores a straight 10/10.
Performance
First, the app is quite convenient to use since it’s located right on the home screen. The interface is also comfortable and adding widgets and applications is quite straightforward. Since it’s a lightweight tool, it doesn’t require much RAM space hence it has no lags or crashes.
Score: 10/10.
The Verdict
Just like any other Android app or those from other operating systems, the lead launcher also has its drawbacks. However, the benefits it brings along surpass these cons and users can enjoy a great deal of efficiency offered by the app. If you fancy simple launchers or regularly get lost whenever you are faced with too many options, then this should be your app of choice. I like the app`s performance, and I would recommend getting the app to any Android user.
