In this era of likes and double taps, the last thing you want is to accidentally delete a picture you absolutely like. If this has happened to you before, you probably know that one of the options is to recover the image using your PC recovery software. While this works in some cases, it takes a lot of time and is not always effective. Fortunately, I have come across an app that will solve this problem for you; DiskDigger Photo Recovery.

DiskDigger has an uncomplicated and responsive user interface. There are very few user interface elements, and it’s easy to identify the different functions thanks to the self-explanatory icons. Apart from this, the app gives directions and feedback when you complete an action which is quite handy, especially for individuals who are not tech-savvy. This Google Android app also has a neat design which features excellent placement of UI elements. 10/10.

DiskDigger has useful features. It offers a ‘limited’ scan which works perfectly if your device is not rooted. This enables you to search for deleted images from thumbnails and cache. However, if you have a rooted device, you can perform a full scan for the ultimate results. This Android app also has a backup feature which gives you the option of saving lost files to Dropbox, Google Drive or your personal email address. This reduces the likelihood of losing the pictures again in case you accidentally delete them.

Currently, this Google Play app for photo recovery is only compatible with Android devices. I think this is very unfortunate for iOS because there isn’t anything on App Store that can match up to it. 8/10.

DiskDigger works perfectly. Every time I have used the app, I have been able to recover my photos without fail. It takes only a few minutes to complete the scan and recover all images. Also, the app doesn’t affect my phone’s performance in any way and is quite consistent in the sense that it doesn’t crash or has screen freezes when I am using it. There haven’t been any recent updates for this app, but this is not an issue because the latest version works just fine. 10/10.

DiskDigger is a free-to-download app. It is not ad-enabled and does not include any in-app purchases. However, there is a pro version. The pro version allows you to select which partitions you would like to scan to recover your images instead of combing through your entire device. The pro version costs $2.99.

The Verdict

I really like DiskDigger. It is reliable, easy to use, consistent in performance and does exactly what it claims. The only issue I have with this app is the fact that it is not available for iOS. This means you lose all the benefits of the app if you decide to change platforms. Regardless, I would recommend this leading app to anyone who is in search of a fast and easy photo recovery tool for their phone.
