There is an abundance of the weather apps today. This makes it difficult to know which one to choose. I tried a number of apps before I got my hands on what I consider one of the leading weather apps on both App Store and Google Play Store. The application I am talking about is Windfinder. The main thing I love about this app is that it focuses mostly on winds and tides but also gives you weather forecast information. There is so much more to this app. Learn more in this review.
Windfinder has a fresh and user-friendly interface. The first time you use this Google Android and iOS app, you will notice that a few locations have been added to the favorites section of the app. This is done to give you a feel of the general layout of the app. From here, you can easily add more locations to your favorites list. Apart from this amazing reception, I also love the way the information on this app is presented. It is unique compared to other weather apps. The presentation is not only beautiful to the eye but also very detailed. The red and white Windfinder colors are also great. They make the app vibrant. You really don’t need another app with this one in hand. It is convenient, reliable and very easy to use. 10/10.
The app has a good number of useful features you can take advantage of. First and foremost, the app has detailed wind and weather forecasts for up to 40,000 spots. In addition to this, it displays wind and weather measurements in real-time from about 20,000 weather stations. You can use the app to monitor weather changes in different areas through the ‘Configure Favorites’ feature. This is great for when you need to travel to a certain location, but you are unsure of the weather patterns. Last but not least, this app has topographic maps and satellite imaging which give you a quick overview of the weather conditions in specific areas.
This weather application is compatible with iPhones, iPads, iPods touch (iOS 9.0 and up is a must) and Android devices (running on Android 4.1 and up). 10/10.
I have been using the Windfinder Android app for a while now. Generally, the app works fine, and I have not experienced any major challenges with performance. However, my search feature doesn’t always work. Sometimes, I can search a location, and the search results will not show it, but I will find it on the map. This is something the developers should look into in the next update. The only improvement in the latest version is an improved forecast map for Android. 10/10.
Windfinder is free on all platforms, but there is a Pro version which goes for $2.99 for Android and $3.99 for iOS. The pro version has additional features like wind preview, animated wind forecast maps, weather widgets, and super forecast. It also contains no ads.
Windfinder is a great app since it has high-quality radar map imagery, detailed analysis of the wind, a clear visual graph and so many other amazing features. I really like it, and I can’t think of anything negative about it. I strongly recommend it to anyone in search of a quality weather app. This App Store and Google Play app for wind monitoring is definitely worth a try.
